Boomers close trip with 9-7 win

NORMAL, Ill. - The Schaumburg Boomers concluded the final six-game road trip of the season with a 9-7 victory over the Normal CornBelters to claim their 50th win. Schaumburg has won at least 50 games in all three years of existence.

For the second consecutive night, Gerard Hall delivered a go-ahead, 3-run homer. Hall crushed his sixth homer of the year in the top of the fifth to break a 5-5 tie.

Schaumburg raced to a 3-0 lead in the first on an RBI single from Tony Delmonico and a 2-run double off the bat of Mark Nelson. Normal responded each time until the homer from Hall. The CornBelters brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth after scoring a pair but couldn't complete the comeback as the Boomers won a series for the ninth time in the second half.

Seth Webster worked 6 innings to collect his sixth win. Eight individuals posted hits in the game with Mark Nelson and Ty Nelson logging 2 each.

Schaumburg (50-34) returns home Friday night for a 6:30 p.m. game LHP Anthony Gomez (0-0, 4.97) starts for the Boomers against RHP Lamarre Rey (3-5, 7.78).
