Aurora man gets 7 years for assaulting child

An Aurora man was sentenced Thursday to seven years in prison as part of a plea deal for sexually assaulting a child he knew, prosecutors said.

Gabriel Campos-Troncozo, 35, of the 600 block of Edwards Street, agreed to the sentence in exchange for a guilty plea to predatory criminal sexual assault, according to the Kane County state's attorney's office.

Prosecutors say Campos-Troncozo committed an act of sexual penetration with the victim sometime between June 5, 2005 and June 4, 2007. The victim was younger than 12.

Campos-Troncozo is required to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence, and has received credit for serving at least 918 days in the Kane County jail, where he has been held since his arrest in lieu of $300,000 bail.
