The Palatine Fire Department responded to a call Sunday of a bat attacking an 81-year-old woman at Cutting Hall, 150 E. Wood St., in the village's downtown.

Officials confirmed that rescue personnel were dispatched at 3:20 p.m. Sunday to the historic theater owned by the Palatine Park District. According to the Cutting Hall website, a production of "Crazy for You" by the Fremont Street Theater Company was scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday.

According to the fire department, the bat bit the woman, who was attending the play, on the finger and then flew away from the scene. The bite victim, according to the department, was treated at the scene and did not require transportation to a hospital.
