Lake County police academy

Lake County Sheriff's Office will host a Citizen Police Academy course starting Sept. 18. The 10-week program is on Thursday evenings starting at 6:30 p.m. for three hours each and students graduate Nov. 20. Instruction is provided by sworn deputies and civilians in their field of expertise and is designed to provide a hands-on experience. Training will take place at the various sheriff's office facilities throughout the county. The academy is offered at no cost to Lake County residents. Participants must be 21 years of age or older, of good moral character, and have no felony convictions. Applications are available at the sheriff's administration office at 25 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Waukegan, or at www.lakecountyil.gov/sheriff. Applications must be filed by Sept. 12. For information contact Deputy Roman Buchberger at (847) 377-4211.
