Minor damage in roof fire at Oak Brook office building

Roofers using a propane torch on tar sparked a small fire Saturday morning at a 15-story Oak Brook office building, authorities said.

Firefighters were called about 8:30 a.m. to the high-rise on the 1500 block of 22nd Street, just across from the Oakbrook Center mall, Oak Brook Battalion Chief Tom Stanfa said.

Firefighters used pump cans to extinguish the small blaze, contained to the roof, Stanfa said. Plywood, foam insulation and tar paper were damaged.
