2 Chicago teens charged as adults in man's death

Two Chicago teenagers are charged as adults in the death of a bystander hit by gunfire intended for someone else.

Cook County prosecutors allege 15-year-old Denzel Burke was encouraged by an adult member of the Conservative Vice Lords to wound a rival. Prosecutors say Burke's friend, 17-year-old Michael Phillips, also encouraged Burke to shoot the 19-year-old target.

Instead, photographer William Lewis, newly arrived from Wisconsin, was shot to death July 12 while waiting at a bus stop.

The teens, who were arrested in Racine, Wisconsin, are charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.

Judge Donald Panarese on Friday ordered Burke held without bail and set bail for Phillips at $1.5 million.

Eric Vaughn, who authorities say supplied the gun and drove the getaway car, was charged with first-degree murder in July.
