District 59 to host Back-to-School Celebration Aug. 23

The District 59 Education Foundation will sponsor a Back-to-School Celebration for all District 59 families from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, at Grove Jr. High School in Elk Grove Village. The event is free to all District 59 students, parents and staff.

The celebration includes demonstrations by BMX Champion Matt Wilhelm, a karate demonstration by American Tiger Karate, a giant inflatable obstacle course, inflatable slide, table games and music by DJ "Quick Mix" Mike. A Fire Engine and Fire Fighters from the Elk Grove Village Fire Department will be on site to demonstrate their equipment. Free hot dogs and chips will be available while supplies last.

Visitors can park in the Hattendorf Center parking lot, the Ridge Family Center for Learning parking lot, the Queen of the Rosary parking lot as well as Grove's lots along Elk Grove Blvd. There will also be limited parking along Ridge Avenue during the celebration.

This event is made possible in part by donations from the following companies: Nicholas and Associates; Legat Architects, PwC and Sodexo.

Grove Jr. High is at 777 Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove Village.
