Pedestrian killed in Waukegan

A pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday evening in Waukegan, police said Monday.

The Waukegan Police Department responded just before 9 p.m. on the 2800 block of Lewis Avenue for crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, police said in a news release. The vehicle was traveling south on Lewis Avenue when it struck a pedestrian entering the roadway.

Silas Johnson, 84, of Waukegan was taken to Condell Hospital in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead. No charges were filed against the driver.
