Car crashes into bedroom of Urbana home
URBANA - An Urbana man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his car through the wall of a home.
Champaign County sheriff's Sgt. Jeff Vercler says the crash occurred about 4:30 a.m. Saturday in east Urbana.
The driver ran off the road at a curve, running over a stop sign and striking the corner of a home. The front of the car punched through the wall of a bedroom.
The (Champaign) News-Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1oPLHes ) that home's owner was in another room at the time and was not harmed.
The driver, Andrew Shannon, was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital and later transferred to Champaign County Jail. He was scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
It was not clear if he already had an attorney.
