State officials announce forum for Peotone airport

Illinois officials will host a forum in September for industry experts to help develop the planned airport in Chicago's South suburbs.

Gov. Pat Quinn announced the forum Thursday. Those expected to attend include air carriers and private developers.

Last month, the state purchased Bult Field general aviation airport for $34 million. It plans to absorb that facility into the future South Suburban Airport it wants to build outside the Will County village of Peotone.

The Illinois Department of Transportation wants input from firms that are interested in a public-private partnership to build and operate the airport. The forum will take place on Sept. 23.
