Republican Chris Nybo, an attorney from Elmhurt, was sworn in yesterday to the Illinois Senate to replace departing Kirk Dillard. Chicago man gets 22 years in Lombard attempted murder
A Chicago man found guilty of severely beating and stabbing the mother of his two young children in Lombard was sentenced yesterday to 22 years in prison. Demetrice Tompkins, 49, faced up to 30 years after the December 2011 attack. Full story.

An Aurora man is being held on a $1 million bail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, cocaine and at least 11 pounds of marijuana. Baltazar G.
