Lake in the Hills man charged with child porn

A Lake in the Hills man faces child pornography charges as part of a statewide initiative to punish offenders who download and trade child pornography, Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office said.

Jonathon A. Morgan, 29, of the 1200 block of Birch Street, was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of child pornography after an investigation between Madigan's office, Lake in the Hills police and the McHenry County sheriff's office.

"Viewing and trading child pornography is not an innocent act but a terrible crime that perpetuates sexual violence against children," Madigan said in the release. "My office will continue to be relentless in investigating and apprehending the worst offenders who trade these horrific videos."

The charges are a class 2 felony punishable by three to seven years in prison, according to a release by Madigan's office.

Morgan's is the 67th arrest of Operation Glass House, a program launched in 2010 to investigate and arrest people trading child pornography online.

He's expected to appear in court Thursday.
