Catholic Church not known for tolerance

The Catholic Church has never been tolerant of those who have own take on God.

God is all loving, but the Catholic Church is not. Back in the old days, they burned those who did not "see the light" after torture. Sometimes they eradicated whole towns (read about the Cathars), killing every man, woman and baby to efficiently get rid of a divergence from Catholic doctrine.

So firing a choir director because his soul fell in love with another soul who happened to be the wrong sex according to church doctrine is terrible, but at least they, with the help and love of God, will live and survive the harsh judgment of a local church.
