Indiana city considers golf carts on streets
BOONVILLE, Ind. - A southwestern Indiana city is considering allowing golf carts and all-terrain vehicles that are properly registered on city streets.
The Evansville Courier & Press reports the Boonville City Council is scheduled to consider the proposed ordinance on Thursday. Two city council members say they are for the ordinance, two are opposed and the fifth says he won't disclose his decision until he votes on Thursday.
Boonville Assistant Police Chief Bryan McKain says he is concerned the golf carts and ATVs could lead to an increase in personal injury accidents.
The ordinance would require drivers be at least 18 years old. The golf cart or ATV would have to be registered and inspected by the Boonville Police Department.
