Blackhawks mascot TommyHawk wows children at Lindenhurst Early Childhood Center

Children laughed and screamed as Chicago Blackhawks mascot Tommy Hawk sprayed plastic aerosol string and exploded confetti around them at the Lindenhurst Early Childhood Learning Center on Monday during its "Chicago Week" celebration.

Almost 100 children, ages 3 through 11, were entertained by Tommy Hawk as he handed out Blackhawks stickers and rally towels, answered Blackhawks trivia questions and played a game of Follow the Leader around the playground.

"This is the week that we celebrate the city that we love. The city of Chicago," center director Frank Davis explained. "One thing that we have are great sports teams like the Cubs, Sox, Bears, Bulls and Hawks. This is cool having the Blackhawks mascot, Tommy Hawk."

Later in the week, as part of the "Chicago Week" celebration, the center plans to serve children deep dish pizza and take them downtown to tour Chicago.

"I think he's nice and I like him. He's kind of funny," said Sydney Krcmarik, 7, of Antioch, who was covered in plastic aerosol string.
