Grayslake fire quickly extinguished

Grayslake firefighters put out a fire Friday at an unoccupied house on the 200 block of West Shore Drive.

Firefighters said they received a call at 7:23 p.m. from a neighbor who went outside after hearing a smoke detector from his next-door neighbor's house.

The fire department arrived four minutes later to find light smoke pouring out the back of the single-story residence.

Firefighters pulled a hand line from the engine and put out the fire within five minutes. The department was assisted by the Round Lake fire department. The fire is still under investigation. The homeowners had not yet moved into the house.

There were no injuries, nor was there damage to neighboring structures.

Estimate of the damage is under $10,000.
