Construction worker hurt on I-90 near Rosemont

A construction worker was injured Wednesday afternoon when a piece of concrete fell on him in a construction zone on I-90 near Rosemont, the Illinois State Police said.

The accident happened within a construction zone near Lee Street at about 3:45 p.m. Rosemont firefighters removed the piece of concrete, and the worker was taken to Lutheran General Hospital with non life-threatning injuries, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Susan Ewald said.

The far east lane of I-90 was closed for nearly an hour while emergency responders worked at the scene. All lanes were reopened by about 4:15 p.m., Ewald said.
