Five local restaurants make OpenTable's top barbecue list

Five Illinois restaurants - including a couple in the suburbs - made OpenTable's list of the Top 30 Best Barbecue Restaurants in America.

The list, prepared as part of OpenTable's 2014 Diners' Choice Awards, is drawn from reviews of diners across the county.

California had the most restaurants on the list with six; Illinois and New York both had five.

The Illinois restaurants making the list, in alphabetical order, are:

• Carson's Prime Steaks & Famous Barbecue, Chicago

• Chicago q, Chicago

• Chuck's Southern Comforts Cafe, Burbank

• Chuck's Southern Comforts Cafe, Darien

• Piggyback Tavern, Forest Park

The 2014 Diners' Choice Awards for barbecue were calculated based on more than 5 million restaurant reviews from verified OpenTable diners between July 1, 2013, and June 30, 2014.
