Hospitality expo expands to Southwest suburbs

Hundreds of people attended the first Chicago Southwest Hospitality Expo Thursday at the Tinley Park Convention Center.

The Daily Herald Business Ledger hosted the expo in an effort to highlight the hospitality industry and inform guests about what the area has to offer.

The event, with 60 exhibitors and more than 600 registered attendees, joins two other successful hospitality expos that the Business Ledger holds in the fall.

Exhibitors Thursday included area hotels, breweries, country clubs, casinos, sporting venues, restaurants, entertainment centers, event planners and promotional product suppliers. The events are ideal for anyone looking for meeting venues, caterers or other ideas for corporate or social gatherings.

"We heard that the people in the Chicago Southwest area were looking for this type of event and we listened," said Chris Craven, advertising team leader at the Business Ledger and director of the expos. "Our plan is to cover the entire suburban marketplace with the hospitality events."

Guests are able to sample food and sip wine and other complimentary beverages as well as network during the event.

The most recent expo was held in partnership with the Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Heritage Corridor Convention & Visitors Bureau, Tinley Park Convention Center and the Orland Park, Chicago Southland and Tinley Park chambers of commerce.

The Tinley Park expo joins an expo planned for Oct. 9 at Abbington Banquets in Glen Ellyn and another in Rolling Meadows on Nov. 13. In October, the Ledger also publishes an upscale Corporate Event & Planning Guide that highlights exhibitors and trends in the hospitality industry.
