Congregation Kneseth Israel to hold annual picnic Aug. 3

Congregation Kneseth Israel in Elgin will hold its annual picnic from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at Randall Oaks Park, off Randall Road in West Dundee.

"Things feel slower over the summer, and the picnic is a way to signal the beginning of an active period in Jewish life," synagogue president Joe Rosenfeld stated. "The religious school is getting ready to start, and some of our holiest days are on the horizon."

Current members or those considering membership are invited to attend. The religious school is providing hot dogs. Attendees are encouraged to bring any additional food they may desire.

Nina Finn, CKI's director of education, stated, "The picnic is a nice, informal way for people to re-establish contact. It is also an easy way for those unfamiliar with CKI to get questions answered and meet the current members."

The picnic will be held at Randall Oaks Park, which is on the west side of Randall Road, north of Route 72. Watch for the CKI banner. Randall Oaks Park also has a petting zoo.

All current congregants as well as new and prospective members are welcome. Reservations would be appreciated. To make a reservation or to talk with Nina Finn about the school, call (847) 741-5656 or email cki
