Woman charged after collision in Crystal Lake

A 20-year-old McHenry woman has been cited for causing a two-vehicle crash that snarled traffic Saturday morning near a major Crystal Lake intersection, authorities said.

Police say Zandra Iandola, the driver of a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer, was exiting a private drive after 10 a.m. Saturday on the north side of Route 176, about 100 feet west of Route 14, when her vehicle collided with a westbound Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck. The Blazer, struck on the driver's side, rolled to its passenger side and came to rest in the center of the roadway, according to a news release.

Iandola and a 23-year-old passenger were extricated from their vehicle by Crystal Lake Fire Rescue crews and were taken to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock with serious injuries.

Traffic was diverted from the area for about two hours during the crash response and investigation.

Iandola was arrested and cited for failure to yield from a private drive, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver's license, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Iandola posted bond and is due back in court Aug. 26.
