Rest stop killing suspect pleads not guilty

ROCKFORD - A man suspected of two summer murders has pleaded not guilty.

The Rockford Register-Star reports Friday that Terence P. Doddy has been charged with first-degree murder as part of a 15-count Winnebago County grand jury indictment.

Other charges include robbery and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Doddy, 36, is charged with the June 30 killing of high school friend Todd Hansmeier, 37. He is a suspect in the July 1 slaying of Tonya Bargman, 44, of Monticello, at a rest stop at Paw Paw along Interstate 39.

Doddy was apprehended July 4 after a police chase near Beloit, Wisconsin. Police say he was driving Barman's car.

A public defender was appointed for Doddy, who is being held without bond.

He could appear in court again Monday.
