Two injured in separate I-88 crashes near Lisle, Lombard

Two crashes injured two people and shut down multiple lanes on eastbound I-88 Monday afternoon near Lisle and Lombard, authorities said.

Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Paul Carlos said the first accident occurred when the driver of an Oldsmobile struck the rear of a semitrailer truck around 11:30 a.m. near Lisle.

The male driver of the car was transported to Edward Hospital in Naperville with injuries that were not life-threatening, Carlos said.

The second accident occurred around 12:08 p.m., about four miles farther east on the tollway, Carlos said. That crash involved two passenger cars, including a Ford SUV.

One woman was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove by the Lombard Fire Department, Carlos said. The extent of her injuries was not immediately known.

Traffic delays on eastbound I-88 lasted more than two hours, with at least two lanes closed for about 45 minutes, Carlos said.
