Boy hit by car near Lake in the Hills fest

A teenage boy riding his bicycle was struck by a car on Miller Road in Lake in the Hills as crowds exited nearby Rockin' Ribfest during heavy rains Saturday night, police said.

The male driver was making a left-hand turn from Miller to head south on Haligus Road when his car clipped the bike's rear tire, leaving the boy with a minor leg injury, Lake in the Hills police Sgt. Ted Ziarkowski said.

The boy was taken to an area hospital, Ziarkowski said.

The rain may have been a factor in the crash and contributed to low visibility for the driver, Ziarkowski said, but police continue to investigate.

Ribfest concertgoers who saw the band Fuel were leaving Sunset Park when the crash took place about 10:15 p.m., police said.
