Small fire in Barrington condo building

Barrington officials said a fire at a condominium complex Friday afternoon is still under investigation.

Firefighters responded to a report of a possible structure fire at 4:15 p.m. on the 600 block of west Russell Street.

Firefighters initially found nothing, but further investigation revealed a small fire that had been extinguished.

The fire was confined to a vacant unit in the 39-unit condominium complex.

There were no injuries, and no one was displaced.

An estimate of the damage has yet to be determined.

Barrington firefighters were assisted by companies from Lake Zurich, Palatine Rural, Countryside, Fox River Grove, East Dundee, Long Grove, Cary and Palatine.
