2 Boomers to join Frontier League all-stars

Outfielder Justin Vasquez and second baseman Jordan Dean will represent the Schaumburg Boomers at the 2014 Frontier League All-Star Game, team officials announced Monday.

Vasquez, 25, was named a West Division starter after a compiling a .331 batting average, a .401 on-base percentage and .473 slugging percentage through Sunday's action. Vasquez, a left-handed hitter, leads the Boomers in RBI with 25 and has started all 44 of the Boomers games in 2014.

Dean, 23, will selected as a reserve second baseman for the West Division in his first full season with the Boomers. Through Sunday, Dean holds a .274/.335/.354 line with 20 runs batted in. A very rangy defender, Dean leads the Boomers with eight stolen bases.

The Frontier League All-Star game takes place at 7 p.m. July 16 in Washington, PA at GCS Ballpark, the home of the Gateway Grizzlies.
