20 years prison for Aurora man who assaulted 2 children

A 40-year-old Aurora man was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting two children he knew.

Inocencio Hernandez-Reyes, of the 600 block of East Galena Blvd., pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal sexual assault in exchange for Kane County prosecutors dismissing more than two dozen other sex charges, the most serious of which carried up to 30 years in prison.

Judge Susan Clancy Boles accepted the plea.

Prosecutors said Hernandez-Reyes in April 2013 sexually assaulted a child less than 12. He also sexually assaulted a second victim, also less than 12, between November 2005 and November 2006, prosecutors said.

Hernandez-Reyes has been held at the Kane County jail since his April 2013 arrest on $1 million bail. He gets credit for 434 days served toward his sentence.

Under state law, he must serve 85 percent of the sentence, or about 17 years.

When released from prison, he must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State's Attorneys Debra Bree and Reagan McGuire.
