Organizers busy setting up Taste of Lombard

Volunteers were busy setting up tents and tables and carnival rides were starting to take shape Monday in Lombard's Madison Meadow Park.

The preparations were for the Taste of Lombard, which begins Tuesday, July 1, and runs through Saturday, July 5, near the intersection of Madison Street and Ahrens Avenue.

The fest will be open from 5 to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and noon to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. on July 4. Carnival hours are from 5 to 11 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

There is a "one-pay" carnival price of $25 per person per day. General admission to the festival is $3. Children ages 9 and younger are free.

Attendees can gain free entrance to the first night of Taste of Lombard by donating blood between 1 and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lombard Lagoon, 430 Marcus Drive.

The first day of the festival also has been declared "Bill Mueller Memorial Day," with $1 from every paid admission going to a fund for the Bill Mueller community memorial site project.

Crews get a ride ready in preparation for the Taste of Lombard, which opens Tuesday, July 1. Bev Horne/bhorne@dailyherald.com
