Editor's note: This story was updated because the wrong date for the meeting was initially submitted to the newspaper.

Elk Grove Township Elementary School District 59 will host a community forum Tuesday, July 15, on the prospect of building an early learning center.

Officials say the forum will address the purpose of the facility, funding considerations, location, and efforts to minimize impact on the surrounding neighborhood.

Officials have proposed the $14.3 million facility would be built as a 55,000-square-foot addition on the east side of Holmes Junior High School, 1900 Lonnquist Boulevard in Mount Prospect. The facility would be intended for children three to five years old. It could open as soon as August 2015.

The forum is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Holmes. There will be time provided for public comments and questions.
