Boomers swept away by Grizzlies

The Schaumburg Boomers were shut out for the first time this season, suffering a 7-0 loss at the hands of the West Division leading Gateway Grizzlies on Thursday night in Saugeet, Ill.

Gateway, best home team in the league, swept the three game series, scoring a pair of runs in the third to take the lead. The Grizzlies added 4 in the fifth, keyed by a 3-run homer from Niki Vasquez. Schaumburg moved just two runners to third base in the whole game, struggling against Gateway starter Ja'Vaun West. West worked 8 innings in the win.

Jordan Dean picked up 2 hits for the Boomers in the loss. Schaumburg was limited to just 7 hits in the game and 19 in the three contests. Cal Bowling threw 6.2 innings in the defeat.
