Grizzlies knock off Boomers

SAUGET, Ill. - The host Gateway Grizzlies jumped out to an early 4-0 lead en route to a 7-3 triumph over the Schaumburg Boomers in Frontier League action Wednesday.

Boomers left-hander Danny Jimenez suffered the loss, working 6 innings to match the most by a starter this year. Jimenez struck out nine and walked one.

The Boomers had 5 hits, including a pair of doubles form Gerard Hall and a double by Sean Mahley.

The defeat marked the first series loss for the Boomers (20-15) in June, stopping a string of six straight series victories. The series finale is today at 7:05 p.m. when Boomers righty Cal Bowling (4-3, 3.75 ERA) opposes righty Ja'Vaun West (4-1, 4.03).
