Body of Naperville man discovered in Illinois River

The body of a Naperville man who jumped in the Illinois River to cool off Saturday afternoon and was swept away by a swift current was found Tuesday, LaSalle County coroner's officials said.

Alberto Rodriguez Jr., 35, went missing about a half a mile from the Illini Park boat ramp in Marseilles about 4:30 p.m. Saturday after entering the water from a boat anchored nearby.

Rodriquez was found just west of Allen Park in Ottawa just after noon on Tuesday.

Ottawa River Rescue, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Marseilles Fire Department, Seneca Fire Department and Reading Township Fire Departments conducted searches.

The death remains under investigation by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police and the LaSalle County coroner's office.
