District 50 wins award:

Woodland Elementary District 50 received the ZCenter Community Impact Award at the Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center's annual community luncheon June 13. Woodland is the first school district to receive this award, which recognizes an organization for its collective efforts to promote prevention of sexual assault and abuse and the healing of its survivors, officials said. Honorees have made significant impact on the issue of sexual violence by promoting Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center (ZCenter) and its services, inspiring action and engaging employees and community members in the mission to end sexual violence. Woodland collaborated with ZCenter to ensure employees received the most accurate information regarding sexual abuse and mandated reporting. In addition, it was one of the first districts to submit a board policy regarding this law and include sexual information in its student handbook, officials said.
