State funds secured for Elk Grove road project

State funding totaling $400,000 will help pay for an estimated $1.4 million road reconstruction project next year near Mead Junior High School in Elk Grove Village.

A grant worth $250,000 is earmarked for roadway improvements on Biesterfield Road from Jersey Lane to Gibson Drive, and a grant worth $150,000 will help pay for reconstruction of Gibson from Biesterfield to Meacham Road.

State Rep. Marty Moylan presented the two checks to the Elk Grove Village board last week.

At the same time, the board approved a $69,929 contract with Itasca-based Civiltech Engineering to perform design engineering for the project, which includes removal and replacement of existing pavement, as well as curb repair and drainage structure rehabilitation.

Construction is targeted to begin by the spring of 2015.
