Boomers blast ThunderBolts

The Schaumburg Boomers trounced the visiting Windy City ThunderBolts 13-2 in their series opener Friday night.

The Boomers roughed up former San Diego Padres pitcher Josh Spence for 6 runs on 8 hits in three innings.

In the third, Ty Nelson, Michael Valdez and Alexi Colon blasted home runs as the Boomers took a 6-2 lead.

Nelson finished with 3 hits and a pair of RBI and Colon had 2 hits and 3 RBI as the Boomers had 14 hits.

Cal Bowling picked up the win, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits in 6 innings.
