Motorcyclist struck by dump truck in Crystal Lake

A Schaumburg man was injured Monday afternoon when the motorcycle he was driving was struck by a dump truck in Crystal Lake, police say.

Andrzej Grygorowicz, 53, suffered nonlife-threatening injuries in the crash, which happened at 1 p.m. at the intersection of routes 31 and 176, Crystal Lake police said in a release.

Police believe Grygorowicz was driving his 2012 Yamaha motorcycle north on Route 31 when the six-wheeled dump truck traveling south on Route 31 tried to turn left onto Route 176 in front of Grygorowicz.

The driver of the dump truck, Leoncio Quezada, 59, of Wheeling, was cited for failure to yield when turning left at an intersection. He was not injured.

Grygorowicz was cited for operating a motor vehicle without the proper classification of a driver's license, police said. He was taken to Centegra Hospital in McHenry.

The intersection was closed for 30 minutes.
