Boomers rout ThunderBolts, 10-3

Matching a franchise record for hits in a game, the Schaumburg Boomers earned a 10-3 rout over the Windy City ThunderBolts in Crestwood on Sunday.

After Justin Vasquez opened the scoring with a two-out RBI single in the first, Schaumburg tacked on six runs in the second to open a 7-0 lead and blow open the game.

Vasquez added a two-run double in the second and fell a triple shy of the cycle, finishing with four RBIs. Every player who appeared in the game for the Boomers reached base with nine players posting hits. Vasquez, Jordan Dean and Sean Mahley, with three hits each, accounted for half of the team's 18 hits in the game against Windy City (11-15).

Seth Webster tossed six innings on short rest to even his record at 2-2. Webster saw a 17⅓ inning scoreless streak end in the fourth.

The Boomers (15-12) are back home on Tuesday night to begin a six game homestand with a 6:30 p.m. contest against the River City Rascals.
