Des Plaines fundraiser for girl's surgery on Saturday

Volunteers are raising money in Des Plaines on Saturday, June 21, to help with expenses related to a lifesaving liver transplant for a 2-year-old girl.

A fundraiser is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at The Gyros Factory, 668 N. Wolf Road, where 15 percent of net sales generated from fliers handed in by patrons will be donated to the Children's Organ Transplant Association.

Arianna Gillespie received a new liver Aug. 6, 2013, at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago after being diagnosed with acute liver failure and other medical conditions.

Volunteers hope to raise $50,000.
