Honor Flight vets to be welcomed home

Nine World War II and two Korean War veterans will be welcomed home from a Lake County Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C., on Sunday, June 22, at the North Chicago Veterans Memorial, 1801 Sheridan Road. The ceremony will be held outdoors rain or shine at 11 a.m. and is open to local residents and the general public. Attendees are encouraged make posters, bring American flags and dress in red, white and blue. "The veterans love seeing young citizens showing their support. It reminds them that the sacrifices that were made are worthwhile, said Tamara Siwula, spokeswoman for Lake County Honor Flight. Call (847) 282-0374 or visit lakecountyhonorflight@gmail.com.
