Community's 5K Freedom Classic Running Strong with Mundelein Park District

Celebrate July 4 and kickoff summer with Mundelein Park & Recreation District's (www.mundeleinparks.org) Freedom Classic 5K Run/Walk and FREE Kids' FUN RUN. The events are sponsored by Medline Industries, Inc. (www.medline.com), sharing the Park District's commitment to health, fitness and enjoying time outdoors.

All ages can get active with these special July 4 events at Keith Mione Community Park (1401 N. Midlothian Road, Mundelein, goo.gl/maps/Chwfg). The Freedom Classic 5K Run/Walk (ages 8 to adult) starts at 8 a.m. and celebrates 35 years with a challenging, fast and flat professionally-timed course through quaint neighborhoods, along Midlothian Road, and a finish at the Park District's flagship park. Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in age (men's/women's) categories. The FREE Kids' ½-Mile FUN RUN (ages 4 to 10), begins at 9:15 a.m., same location, with all kids completing the run getting a special medal.

"The Freedom Classic events are a wonderful tradition for Mundelein," said Margaret Resnick, Executive Director, Parks & Recreation. "They're fun, challenging and a great way to meet up with neighbors and friends. Thanks to all that lend their support." More than 500 participants of all skill levels, from competitive runners to those enjoying a leisurely walk (baby strollers, too), enjoy the day.
