Kenneth Zehnder elected president of Elgin Lions

At its regular meeting this month, the Elgin Lions Club installed officers for 2014-2015. The incoming president is Kenneth Zehnder. Assisting him are Bruce Williamson, Tom Wahl and Dave Gross as vice presidents, and Ed Bates and Craig Bradley will serve again as secretary and treasurer, respectively.

Lion Bob Fowler, First Vice District 1-J Governor, administered the oaths of office and reminded the club of the duties of the members in furthering the charitable works of the Elgin Lions Club.

The Elgin Lions Club will be celebrating its 93rd anniversary this fall. It is one of the oldest clubs in Lions International and has long been active in providing services to the citizens of Elgin. Most of those services have involved helping those who have vision problems and have difficulty paying for treatment.

The club is seeking new members, and is inviting any interested people to attend a "summer board meeting" in July of August. These meetings are informal affairs featuring picnic-style food and beverages. Locations and times or other information can be obtained by leaving a message at (847) 289-4206.

If you plan to attend, there is no charge for the meal for those considering joining the club, but advance notification of attendance is necessary to provide adequate food for the meeting.
