Woodstock man charged with setting woman afire
A Woodstock man was charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery for spraying a female acquaintance with an accelerant and set her afire, authorities said.
Anthony D. Cohn was charged Friday, a day after he and the 36-year-old acquaintance got into an argument. Woodstock Police Chief Robert Lowen says it was after the argument that Cohn attacked the woman.
Authorities say witnesses at the scene helped put out the flames, but not before she suffered serious burns. She was taken to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock for treatment. Authorities haven't revealed her condition.
Lowen didn't give a reason for the attack, saying only that the victim "wasn't going along with his wishes."
Cohn is being held in the McHenry County jail. It wasn't immediately known if he has a lawyer.
