Seven hurt in Antioch collision

Seven people were taken to hospitals after a multivehicle crash Wednesday night in Antioch, authorities said Thursday.

The wreck happened when a car traveling east on Route 173 was passing another vehicle and collided with a third vehicle headed the opposite direction, according to the Lake County sheriff's office.

The crash occurred at 9:50 p.m. near the intersection of Route 173 and Talman Avenue.

Six people were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and one person was taken to Centegra Hospital in McHenry. The driver of one of the vehicles had to be extricated, according to Deputy Chief Jon Cokefair of the Antioch Fire Department.

No injuries were life-threatening.

Route 173 was shut down until midnight due to the accident cleanup and investigation.
