Boomers rained out; DH on tap today

The Schaumburg Boomers were rained out in the opener of a three-game series with the Gateway Grizzlies on Tuesday night at Boomers Stadium. The rainout was the second in team history at home.

Heavy rain fell about a half hour prior to the scheduled first pitch and continued through the early evening, prompting the postponement. The contest will be made up today as part of a doubleheader. Game 1 begins at 11 a.m., with the nightcap to follow. Both games will be seven innings. Boomers left-hander Rey Rodriguez (0-0, 4.50 ERA) starts against righty Dejai Oliver (2-0, 2.08) in the opener. The second game matches Boomers righty Cal Bowling (1-1, 5.73) against RHP Aaron Newcomb (2-0, 0.69).
