Postseason victory for Rolling Meadows

Rolling Meadows exceeded its seed.

The No. 17-seeded Mustangs edged No. 16 Streamwood 25-21, 14-25, 25-16 to earn another match in the boys volleyball postseason, this one against Lake Park on Tuesday as the regional semifinal rounds are contested at Westminster Christian in Elgin.

Against Streamwood, Tom Srnak led with way with a 12-kill, 10-dig performance.

In other matches Monday at Westminster, Elk Grove handled Larkin 25-8, 25-13 and Palatine topped Westminster Christian 25-8, 25-16.

• Conant came up short against regional host St. Charles North, but the Cougars sure made it tough on the North Stars. St. Charles North won 26-24, 22-25, 25-19. Patryk Openchowski and Jae Pyun both had 8 kills for Conant, while John Levitt had 14 digs and Mark Tomuta had 11.

• Regional winners from the Mid-Suburban League included Fremd, which topped Hoffman Estates 30-32, 25-16, 25-22, plus Wheeling, which handled Amundsen in two games. St. Viator advanced in the Glenbrook North regional, and Maine West rolled past Senn in the Prospect regional.
