Stevenson finishes fourth in state tourney

Stevenson falls twice: At Stevenson, despite 6 goals from Mitchell Sokolsky, the Patriots dropped their final two games of the season.
In Saturday morning's state semifinal, Stevenson lost to Loyola 13-6.
Naperville North then topped the Patriots 9-3 in the third-place match.
Sokolsky scored 4 goals against Loyola, which led only 5-3 at halftime, while Dan Maleski and Zach Stephens also had goals for Stevenson.
The Patriots led Naperville North 1-0 after one quarter but trailed 4-1 at the break.
Sokolsky scored twice, and Alex Kapecki had the other tally for Stevenson.
• Loyola went on to win the championship, topping Fenwick 3-2. Cameron Shewchuck led all scorers with 6 goals for the Ramblers (31-5), who were outscored 3-1 in the fourth quarter but earned a 3-2 edge in the OT periods.
The top scorer for Fenwick (31-5) was Bailey Wendt with 3 goals.
• In the girls water polo state championship game, Fenwick topped St. Ignatius 6-3 as senior Collen Barron scored 3 goals for the Friars (31-2).
