Boomers roll past Miners

MARION - The Schaumburg Boomers scored in the each of the first four innings and rolled to an 8-3 road win over the Southern Illinois Miners to take two of three in the series.

The Boomers broke open a close game with 5 runs in the fourth. Jordan Dean (2 runs scored), Justin Vasquez (4 hits), Mark Nelson, and Ben Kline (2 RBI) all drove in runs as the Boomers bat around. The Boomers had season highs in runs and hits.

Starter Cal Bowling (1-1) was the beneficiary, working 6 innings and allowing 3 runs. Ryan McChesney doubled twice in his first start of the season behind the plate.

The Boomers (2-4) play their home opener tonight at 6:30 p.m. when they host the Florence Freedom. Boomers right-hander Charle Rosario (0-0, 0.00) opposes righty Casey Henn (0-0, 4.50).
