Rolling Meadows man faces child porn charges

A 59-year-old Rolling Meadows man is charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.

Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez announced charges against Osman Bedel Thursday following an investigation by a special task force in her office and Arlington Heights police.

Bedel was arrested Tuesday and his bond was set at $100,000 today.

Prosecutors said Bedel possessed images of children under the age of 13. Other images were of children older than 13, but younger than 18, authorities added.

Some of the images were posted to his Facebook account, authorities said. Investigators were tipped off to Bedel by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Police seized Bedel's cellphone, which investigators said contained numerous files containing images of children engaged in sex acts.

Bedel's next court date is scheduled for June 12.
