Jacobs takes second at FVC meet

Kallash Panchapakesan won the No. 1 singles championship and Kendrick Chong finished second at No. 2 singles Tuesday to lead Jacobs to a second-place finish at the Fox Valley Conference boys tennis tournament.

Prairie Ridge won the team championship with 84 points. Jacobs had 75 and third place Grayslake Central had 63, the best of the Fox Division schools.

Panchapakesan defeated Hampshire's Elisha Hougland 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 in the No. 1 singles final, while Chong fell to PR's Hayden Dzurisin 7-5, 2-6, 13-11 at No. 2.

Crystal Lake South's Alex Sardjev was second at No. 3 singles, losing to Prairie Ridge's Aadiyta Rawal in the finals 6-1, 7-6(5).

Cary-Grove, which finished fourth, had second place finishes at No. 2 doubles from Kevin Budreck-Brandon Butler and at No. 4 doubles from Eric Shershen-Chris Cecchin.
