South Bend company to add more than 600 jobs

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A South Bend company that makes steel towers and poles has announced plans to build a 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in the city and to hire more than 600 people over the next nine years.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. announced Thursday that Nello Corp. plans to begin work on the building next year and that a 250,000 square-foot facility expansion is expected within five years.

The IEDC offered Nello up to $2.9 million in conditional tax credits and up to $75,000 in training grants based on the company's job-creation plans.

Nello was founded in 2002 and makes more than 1,000 structures a year.
